Reading to Rise Intelligent Young Minds Across Yazoo

Our Commitment to Literacy

Read to Rise Yazoo Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Juelz Jordan, dedicated to supporting early readers in Yazoo City and surrounding communities. We believe that every child deserves the chance to develop strong literacy skills and a lifelong love of learning regardless of background or barriers.

Through engaging reading programs, one-on-one mentoring, and vibrant community events, we work hand-in-hand with families, schools, and local leaders to uplift the next generation of readers.

Our Mission

To remove the barriers that hinder early literacy development in Yazoo City and beyond one book, one child, and one community at a time.

Our Focus

A central part of our mission is helping third-grade students successfully pass the Mississippi Third Grade Reading Gate a critical benchmark that determines whether children are ready to progress in school. We provide the tools, support, and encouragement young readers need to meet this milestone with confidence and joy.

Whether we’re building home libraries, hosting read-aloud events, or connecting children with caring mentors, Read to Rise is committed to making reading a fun, empowering, and accessible experience for all.
